Sarayu Ghat

The sacred Sarayu river flows through Ayodhya carrying centuries of devotion. The ghats come alive at dawn with pilgrims taking a holy dip, and at dusk with the mesmerising Ganga Aarti — lamps, chants, and the scent of incense rising over the water. The Ram Ki Paidi ghat is the most revered bathing spot.

Hanuman Garhi

Perched atop 76 steps, Hanuman Garhi is one of Ayodhya's most beloved temples. The 10-foot idol of Hanuman Ji is said to guard the city of Ayodhya. Devotees believe that no pilgrimage to Ram Mandir is complete without first seeking Hanuman Ji's blessings here.

  • Climb the 76 steps early morning to avoid crowds
  • Tuesday and Saturday are especially auspicious
  • Prasad of laddoos is distributed after darshan
  • The view of Ayodhya from the top is breathtaking
Kanak Bhawan

Kanak Bhawan — the Golden Palace — is said to be the private palace gifted to Sita by Kaikeyi after her marriage to Ram. The temple houses beautiful golden idols of Ram and Sita adorned with jewels and fine garments. The interiors are richly decorated and the atmosphere is deeply devotional.

  • Photography is permitted in the outer courtyard
  • The temple is especially beautiful during Ram Navami
  • Bhog (food offering) is distributed at noon
  • Combine with a visit to Ram Mandir — they are very close

One of the oldest temples in Ayodhya, Nageshwarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been established by Kush, the son of Lord Ram. The Shivratri celebrations here are particularly grand, drawing thousands of devotees from across India.

Treta Ke Thakur

This ancient temple marks the site where Lord Ram performed the Ashwamedha Yagna. The black stone idols of Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan, and Hanuman are said to have been carved by Kuber himself. The temple is a serene and less-crowded alternative to the main sites.

Auto-Rickshaw

Readily available outside the hotel. Agree on a fare before boarding — most rides within the city cost ₹30–₹80.
